It can operate from aircraft carriers, and a variety of other naval and merchant vessels, as well as land bases. "Red Lion 617 was a great aircraft, affectionately known as the "War Bird". Unfortunately, this past October 617 suffered a loss of tail rotor drive on short final to our base of operations in Kuwait and was destroyed. Thankfully, all 7 of her crew escaped with only a few minor injuries.
